Tucked in the middle of Devonport, Townhouse & Loft is a little pocket of pure wonder. Every corner of the beautifully restored 1901 townhouse is filled with curious treasures—enough artefacts and objets d’art from around the world to make you momentarily forget where you are.
I spent long, lazy summer mornings having breakfast outdoors, basking in the sunshine on the deck - almost every meal became alfresco. The outdoor bathhouse was absolute luxury, and on a cooler evening, the sunken Moroccan-inspired bath inside, dimly lit with warm cosy lighting, was just as indulgent.
The beds were draped in soft French linen and were utterly scrumptious… I slept like I hadn’t in weeks.
Finding your land legs after a sea crossing on the Spirit of Tasmania, or regrouping before leaving the island, this surreal place feels like both a send-off and a welcome, and is such a wonderfully unique place to stay.
